旁观者清

有二人弈者，虑子而未定，其旁观者先见之。二人以为能①，求与之时，则不及二人远甚。故当局者工②，而蔽于求胜之心；旁观者拙③，而灼④于虚公之见。故凡以利害之心虑事，是虑弥⑤周而去道弥远。小数且⑥然，况家国天下之事乎。选自清《陈确集.瞽言二》译文有两个在下棋的人，正考虑棋应该怎么走却还没做决定的时候，旁观他们下棋的人先看出了应对的办法。那两个下棋的认为他很厉害，但等到那人应邀对奕时，却远远比不上他们两个厉害。所以说，当局者因再厉害，却被求胜的心情所蒙蔽(显得不厉害了)；旁观者再笨，却因为心里没有顾虑而看得准确。因此凡是考虑事情有利害想法的，会想得越多偏离周全越远。像这样的小事是这样，何况国家大事呢？英译 Game two of those, of worry and yet its bystander foresight.
